Gheorghe Ciuhandu

Gheorghe Ciuhandu ( born June 15, 1947 in Timişoara, Timiş county ) is a Romanian politician and served from 1996 to 2012 mayor of the city of Timişoara. On 18 June 2011 he was elected to the board of PNTCD. From August 2004 to January 2007, he was chairman of this party.

Gheorghe Ciuhandu is the son of Professors Gheorghe and Felicia Ciuhandu. The paternal grandfather, also named Gheorghe Ciuhandu, was an Orthodox priest, an active participant in the Great agreement, Member of the Romanian Parliament, honorary member of the Romanian Academy, and married with Anamaria George (University teacher). Gheorghe Ciuhandu is fluent in German, English and French. He is an Orthodox Christian.

Life

Gheorghe Ciuhandu attended from 1961 to 1965 the German -speaking Nikolaus Lenau Lyceum in Timişoara, after the Polytechnic University of Timişoara 1965-1970 and his PhD in 1986 for doctoral diploma engineer in civil engineering.

Gheorghe Ciuhandu was 1970 to 1973 Engineer at Industrial Trust, 1973-1974 engineer at the Institute for Research and projection for hydropower equipment, 1975-1976 engineer at the National Institute for Research in Construction ( INCERC ), 1976-1980 engineer and 1980-1993 scientific researcher at the Department for research and projection in the construction industry ( ICCPDC ), from 1993 to the present lecturer at the Polytechnic University of Timişoara. From 1994 to 1996 he was Director of the Institute for Research and expertise in the construction industry ( INCERC ) operates. Since 1996 to date he is mayor of Timişoara. Gheorghe Ciuhandu authored over fifty published at home and abroad scientific papers.

Gheorghe Ciuhandu is a member of Partidul Naţional Ţărănesc since 1990 - Crestin Democrat ( PNTCD ), the National Peasant Christian Democratic Party, President of the PNTCD Timişoara was 1991 to 1995, President of the PNTCD in Timiş county since 1995 to date, vice president of PNTCD at the state level since 2000 to August 2004 and President of the PNTCD - transitional in Partidul Popular Crestin Democrat ( PPCD, Christian Democratic people's Party) had been renamed - August 2004 to January 2007.

Gheorghe Ciuhandu was an active participant in the Romanian Revolution in December 1989 and a member of the freely elected City Council ( January-June 1990). He was a founding member of the Association Memorial of the Revolution since 1990. He was a member of the National Assembly of the Romanian Orthodox Church from 1994 to 1998, member of the board of the Intercultural Institute in Timisoara since 1996, president of the local consortium Timişoara from 1990 to 1996. He is a member of the management committee of FMR - Association of cities in Romania since 1996 until today, and President of the Committee for Urban and territorial organization of FMR since 1996 to present, as well as a founding member of the Philharmonic society in Timisoara since 1998 and founder of the church of the Mother of God birth in Timisoara since 1999.

He is Executive President of the Romanian Association Astra for the Banat, the Iron Gate and the Romanians worldwide since 2000 to present, full member of the CLRAE - CLRAE the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, and in 1999 awarded the title sponsor of the art - for the support and promotion of Romanian contemporary art of the Union of Visual Artists in Romania. In 2013 he received the Cross of Merit 1st class of the Federal Republic of Germany awarded.
