Gheorghe Mironescu

Gheorghe G. Mironescu ( born January 28, 1874 in Vaslui; † 9 October 1949 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian jurist, politician and Prime Minister of Romania.

Life

After graduation in 1891 Mironescu studied literature and philosophy at the University of Bucharest. He then studied in Paris and received his doctorate in 1898 for a Doctor of Law. After that he worked as a lawyer in Romania, among others, Ministry of Agriculture, Industry, Commerce. In 1906 he was appointed professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Bucharest. This he held until his retirement in 1939.

Meanwhile Mironescu 1911 Romanian Deputy and three years later a senator in the year. Under the Prime Minister of Take Ionescu, he was briefly up to January 17, 1922 Minister of Education. From November 10 1928 to 7 June 1930, he was in the government Iuliu Maniu Foreign Minister and then for a few days and then from October 10, 1930 Prime Minister of the country. With its national peasant government began in the same year, the period of political instability. Over the next three years, eight governments came to power. This led to the weakening of parliamentary democracy in favor of the Romanian king Charles II Subsequently he was still working as Finance Minister, Interior Minister and Minister of State. On May 31, 1939 Mironescu became an honorary member of the Romanian Academy. He died at the age of 75 in Bucharest.
