Gholamali Bayandor

Gholamali Bayandor (Persian غلام علي بايندر; born December 13, 1898 in Tehran, † August 25, 1941 ) was an Iranian Rear Admiral.

Life

Gholamali Bayandor was born on 13 December 1898 in Tehran. His ancestors came from Bidschar in the province Kordestān. After his schooling in Tehran he attended from 1920, the Military Academy of the Iranian army.

Gholamali Bayandor 1921 was involved in the crackdown on the separatist movement of Mirza Khan Kutschak in Mazandaran under the command of Reza Khan, later Reza Shah Pahlavi. He then assumed command of an artillery unit.

In 1921 he was sent to the military academy at St. Cyr in France. Ten years later he traveled with a group of officers to Italy to prepare the foundation of the Iranian Navy. After the founding of the Iranian Navy Bayandor was November 5, 1933 to August 25, 1941 its first commander. Gholamali Bayandor fell in the morning of August 25, 1941 around 4 clock in an attack on his ship in the British Navy. Great Britain and the Soviet Union had begun a large-scale attack in the context of the Anglo - Soviet invasion of Iran, even though the government of Iran had declared its neutrality. The British approached under the pretext of wanting to negotiate, his ship. When they were within range, they opened fire.
