Ghosts and Vodka

Ghosts and Vodka was an American emo band from Chicago, Illinois.

Band History

Ghosts and Vodka was formed in 1998 when Erik Bocek and Sam Zurick met at a Sky Corvair reunion show on Victor Villarreal and Scott Shellhammer. Bocek and Zurick at that time were members of Joan of Arc, the group left but after they had jammed with Villarreal and Shellhammer. Zurick returned a few years later, back to Joan of Arc. Zurick and Villarreal had known each other since their youth, when they had played together at Cap'n Jazz.

Ghosts and Vodka was purely instrumental band in the scene and highly regarded for her expressive and technically virtuosic playing. The group claimed during its existence in 1999 out the EP Momento Mori and 2001, the LP Precious Blood. 2001, the group split up, as Villarreal and Zurick wanted to focus on their involvement in Owls. Under this band name namely the brothers Tim and Mike Kinsella Kinsella attempted a revival of the original Cap'n Jazz lineup. In 2003, the label Sixgunlover Records released the anthology Addicts and Drunks.
