Giacomo Dalla Torre del Tempio di Sanguinetto

S. E. Venerable Bailiff Fra ' Giacomo Dalla Torre del Tempio di Sangui net ( born December 9, 1944 in Rome) is professed Honour and Devotion Grand Cross - Bailli and since February 12, 2009 Grand Prior of the Grand Priory of Rome, the Order of Malta. Until then, he was Grand Commander of the Order of Malta since 2004, one of the four High Officers of the Order.

Life

Giacomo Dalla Torre, who came from a noble family from Treviso has a PhD after completing his studies in literature, specializing in Christian archeology and art history and was a professor of literature and art history at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome, where he currently works as a deputy director.

Dalla Torre is the author of numerous essays on art and bibliography.

His brother Giuseppe Dalla Torre del Tempio di Sangui net, since 2011 Governor General of the Equestrian Order of the Holy grave in Jerusalem.

Religious Life

After Dalla Torre was admitted to the Order of Malta in 1985, he has perpetual vows in 1993 and was professed knights. From 1994 to 1999 he was the Grand Prior of the Grand Priory of Lombardy and Veneto. Since 1999 he was a member of the Sovereign Council and various commissions.

In 2004 he was elected by the General Chapter to the Grand Commander and has after the death of Grand Master Fra 'Andrew Bertie on 7 February 2008 until the election of a new Grand Master Fra' Matthew Festing on 11 March 2008 verfassungsmäß as governor ( ad interim) of the Order conducted.

On 12 February 2009, the Grand Master and the Sovereign Council of the choice of Bailiff Fra ' Giacomo Dalla Torre 67th Grand Prior of the Grand Priory of Rome agreed, at the same time declared in accordance with Article 159 of the Code of his resignation from the Sovereign Council.
