Giana Sisters DS

Giana Sisters DS is a published in 2009 for the Nintendo DS Jump ' n' Run game. It is a sequel to the Jump ' n' Run - classic The Great Giana Sisters and contains 80 levels spread across eight worlds. The music consists partly of remixes of the original music, some of the new pieces. Armin Gessert, the programmer of the original game, was involved as an executive producer on the development.

As in the original is also available in Giana Sisters DS punk upgrade: After collecting points, Giana's hair dyed red and she can henceforth destroy blocks by contrast, jumping from below. It can also fire against opponents energy balls. Other upgrades were not taken from the original, just as Mary appeared not to. Instead, two new collectable items have been added, soda bottles and chewing gum. They will be shown after collecting on the touch screen and can be activated by touch. The soda bottle produces a jet of water that can be used against opponents or grants destructible blocks out of the way. The gum is used to form a large bubble with the help of Giana can fly. The bubble can be controlled normally using the buttons or by blowing into the Nintendo DS microphone either.

At the end of each world is a boss battle awaits against a dragon who becomes increasingly difficult the further one progresses in the game.

By collecting red diamonds can be per world unlock a bonus level. The bonus level in the last World consists of a remake of the original levels of Giana Sisters.

Reception

The reviews of Giana Sisters DS fell out cautiously positive. However, both the music and the cute graphics found favor, criticized the low level of difficulty and the simple build-up play, which offered no major surprises, as well as the lack of variety in boss fights.
