Gianfranco Brancatelli

Gianfranco Brancatelli ( born January 18, 1950 in Turin ) is an Italian former racing driver, who was particularly active in the formula and touring car racing.

Career

From 1973 drove Branca setting in the Italian "Formula Abarth " in which he decided in the following year the overall victory. In 1975, he finished second in the Italian Formula 3 ranks second in the standings, one point behind Luciano Pavesi. 1975 and 1976 launched Brancatelli in European Formula 3 March and was able to achieve two race wins, which gave him third place in the overall standings in his second season. 1977 moved Brancatelli used in Formula 2 and drove for the team Scuderia Everest, the one Ralt began in each year, which was driven by a problematic Ferrari Dino engine. Formula 1

1979 Brancatelli was reported to the Grand Prix of Spain and Belgium for the German team Kauhsen in Formula 1. At the Spanish Grand Prix at Jarama Brancatelli failed to qualify, the Italians drove by far the slowest time of the 27 participants. Similarly bad was the situation at the Belgian Grand Prix at the Circuit Zolder, where Brancatelli as the 28th and last also not qualified. After two disastrous race weekends to Kauhsen moved back from Formula 1.

Touring car

In the following years Brancatelli launched in touring car races in several series, including the World Touring Car Championship, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
