Giba

Gilberto Godoy Filho, known as Giba ( born December 23, 1976 in Londrina, Brazil) is a Brazilian volleyball player.

Giba was born in Londrina, but raised in Curitiba. He had to overcome some difficulties in his life: As a baby he had leukemia as a child he had a serious arm injury and he was suspended for some time in 2002. Giba played volleyball professionally since 1996 in several Brazilian clubs. In 2003 he moved to Italy Piemonte Volley and 2007 to Russia Iskra Odintsovo. In 2009 he returned to Brazil and played in São Paulo at Pinheiros Sky and from 2011 at Cimed Florianópolis. 2012 moved Giba in the Argentine league Drean Bolívar.

Giba is one of the best volleyball players in the world. With the Brazilian national team, he won numerous medals at Olympic Games, World Championships and in the World League. At the 2004 Olympic Games in the World League in 2006, at the 2006 World Cup and the World Cup 2007 Giba were each awarded " Most Valuable Player ".
