Giedrius KupreviÄius
Giedrius Antanas Kuprevičius ( born April 8, 1944 in Kaunas, Lithuania) is a Lithuanian composer and musician, Carilloneur and former politician.
Life
From 1958 to 1962 he graduated from the music school for children and learned then composition at Juozas Gruodis Conservatory Kaunas, 1962-1968 he studied at Lietuvos ir teatro Muzikos akademija with Prof. Eduardas Balsys.
From 1988 to 1990 he was First Deputy Minister of Culture Soviet Lithuania. From 1990 to 1999 taught as a lecturer at the Vytauto Didžiojo universitetas from 1992 to 1993 he was Deputy Mayor of Kaunas. From 2000 to 2012, he was Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at the KTU. He also taught at Kauno medicinos akademija, Lietuvos zemes UKIO akademija, Kauno politechnikos institutas, Vilniaus Lietuvos universitetas and Muzikos ir teatro akademija.
He plays with carillon Kaunas.
