Gigaset Communications

Gigaset Communications GmbH (formerly Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices GmbH & Co. KG ) is a global manufacturer of DECT phones and tablets, based in Dusseldorf. The company was founded in 2008 from Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Siemens AG. Gigaset Communications GmbH is now the sole owner of Gigaset AG.

History

The first wholly-owned subsidiary of Siemens AG was founded on 1 October 2005. The company leads the activities of the division Customer Premises Equipment (CPE ) of Communications, a division of Siemens AG, continued. The company was founded after Siemens had separated on 1 October 2005 of its mobile division (MD). CPE, which had formerly along with MD, remained with Siemens and was converted into an independent company.

On October 1, 2006, the COM at Siemens was dissolved. The network division went into a joint venture with Nokia, and the Enterprise business ( HiCOM ) was converted into an independent GmbH & Co. KG - Siemens Enterprise Communications, short SEN. This subsidiary of Siemens AG has again a GmbH & Co. KG, a Siemens Enterprise Communications Management Manufacturing GmbH & Co. KG, which directs the Siemens Enterprise Communications Manufacturing GmbH & Co. KG. In the latter, the OptiPoint ( HiPath ) series, also Open Stage manufactured since 2007.

The company operates worldwide and achieved revenues of around one billion euros in fiscal 2005 ( ended September 30).

With effect from August 1, 2008, Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices GmbH & CO. KG has sold 80.2 percent to Arques Industries, operating since October 1, 2008 under the name of Gigaset Communications GmbH.

Beginning of 2009 were employed by Gigaset, of which 1670 in Germany 2100 employees. The previous company Siemens Home and Office Communication Devices generated revenues of around one billion euros in fiscal 2005 ( ended September 30).

On 1 July 2009 Gigaset Communications GmbH sold the WiMAX and broadband divisions of Sagem Communications. The company is strengthening their own words the core business of cordless telephony.

31 December 2012 Gigaset Communications employs 1,248 staff in Germany. In the same year a turnover of 361 million euros.

In August 2013 Gigaset presented the SL930A, the first DECT landline phone with touch screen and the Android operating system.

In November 2013 Gigaset Communications entered the tablet market and put the tablets QV 830 QV 1030, and before that ship with the operating system Android. Unlike cordless phones the tablets are not manufactured at the Gigaset Bocholt, but by contract manufacturers in other locations. Gigaset has already announced to want to imagine 2014 more tablets.

Corporate Divisions and Products

Gigaset Communications GmbH includes product offerings cordless phones for landline telephony ( analog and ISDN ) and IP telephony ( VoIP). The telephony devices are in the market better known under the brand name Gigaset.

From 1 October 2006 until its sale to Sagem Communications on July 1, 2009, there were still two divested operating units with its own management: WiMAX (Marc Achhammer ) and " Home Media " (Harald Sendlinger ).

Gigaset Communications GmbH develops and manufactures communication terminals at the site of Bocholt.

Factory of the Year 2009

In 2009, the Gigaset plant in Bocholt ( Germany ) received the " Factory of the Year" by the business magazine "Produktion " and the management consultancy A. T. Kearney in the category " Outstanding Change Management". For its excellent environmental management system, the company was certified according to DIN EN ISO 14001 in 2007. This TUV certification stands for environmental friendliness in the production and the products.
