Gigi D'Agostino

Gigi D' Agostino ( born December 17, 1967 in Turin; actually Luigino Celestino Di Agostino ) is an Italian DJ, remixer and music producer. He is considered the inventor of the Lento Violento - style and as an important interpreter of the Italo - dance scene. He became internationally known through songs like Bla Bla Bla, The Riddle and L' Amour Toujours.

Life

Early life

D' Agostino worked as a bricklayer, remanufacturer to tennis courts and installer. In 1986 he gained his first experience as a DJ. His character was to play songs slower than usual, so known but not necessarily endeared him with the public and colleagues. That changed when he began to include more well-known songs that fit into his concept still in his sets.

Breakthrough

In the 90s, D' Agostino coined the style of Mediterranean Progressive. The breakthrough in the German it finally succeeded in early 2000 with the single Bla Bla Bla (which contains a vocal sample from Why Did You Do It by Stretch) and the accompanying video.

By the end of 2001, D' Agostino was able to successfully compete with his singles on the charts in several countries. In Germany, he was able to place four singles in the Top 10, including The Riddle ( Nik Kershaw of the original ), La Passion and L' amour toujours.

In 2004, he made ​​it with the single Silence again in the top 20 of the German charts. However, his next singles were able to record any great success, not least was the fact that little promotion was operated for its publications. So no more video clips were produced ( Exceptions are Silence and Wellfare ). The final single was released in 2005 I wonder why, since D' Agostino has published exclusively albums and samplers, and continues to focus on his DJ activities.

His radio show Il Cammino di Gigi D' Agostino ran until mid-2009 at the Italian radio station m2o.

The Chinese character (舞), which he always carries with him and can be found on almost every CD covers and many fan T-shirts is very wǔ ( jap mai) meaning to German " dance " or " dance ". From the fans but it is commonly referred to as " MON ".
