Gilles Perrault

Gilles Perrault (actually Jacques Peyroles; born March 9, 1931 in Paris ) is a French journalist and novelist.

Life

Perrault attended the Institut d' Etudes Politiques in Paris, became a lawyer and practiced this profession first five years out.

After the success of his essay 'Les Parachutistes ' ( Paratroopers ) who was inspired by his military service in Algeria and for which he was awarded the Prix Aujourd'hui, he turned to journalism ( reportage about the India of Nehru, the Olympic Games in Tokyo and the problem of blacks in the U.S.). He then undertook research on unknown aspects of the Second World War, including a standard work on the Red Chapel.

Le Secret du Jour J (1964 ) received an award from the Comité d' action de la Résistance, and was an international bestseller. L' Orchestre Rouge ( 1967), was an even bigger success. 1969 Perrault has a novel, Le Dossier 51, published. A recent important book was his portrayal of the torture regime of Hassan the Second, by the then King of Morocco, had been previously reported on because of his close relations with the West only in a flattering way. The book Le garçon aux yeux gris served as a template for André Téchiné's film Les Egares.

Some books have been translated into German Perrault.

Gilles Perrault, together with the singer Renaud one of the founding members of the group çA suffat comme ci, which authored the 1989 call Bastille. He is a member of the Komités Coordination française pour la Décennie to promote non-violence and the culture of peace. He has equally share in the foundation of Ras l'front.
