Geography

Gimritz is about 7 km northwest of Halle ( Saale).

History

Today's village Gimritz has its roots in the three Slavic settlements Gimritz ( Chumeritz ) Nösselitz and Raunitz ( Ruwenitz ) and the subsequent German settlement Langendorf. Of the waste places Kapowe, Preternik and Zuschtau (the latter desolate after 1484 ) are no longer visible traces. In 1276 the villages Nösselitz, Gimritz and Kapowe were first mentioned in a dispute between the Bishop of Merseburg and the Counts of Landsberg on the jurisdiction of the goods.
