Gina Bachauer

Gina Bachauer (Greek Τζίνα Μπαχάουερ; born May 21, 1913 in Athens, † August 22, 1976 ibid ) was a Greek pianist.

Life

Gina Bach Auer was born the daughter of an Italian-Austrian family. At the Athens Conservatory, she studied in the class of Woldemar Freeman. Later she moved to Athens and took lessons with Alfred Cortot and Rachmaninoff.

In 1930, she accompanied the Paris Symphony Orchestra under Pierre Monteux and the Athens Symphony Orchestra under Dimitri Mitropoulos.

Named after her is the Gina Auer Bach International Piano Competition.
