Ginés Pérez de la Parra

Juan Ginés Pérez ( baptized on 7 October 1548 Orihuella, Alicante, † 1612 ) was a Spanish conductor and composer.

He received his education at the cathedral of his native town and worked there then as Kapellmeister. From 1581 to 1595 he had this place also at the Cathedral of Valencia held. He then returned to his birthplace.

He created mainly sacred music, including some motets and psalms, and enjoyed among his contemporaries, despite some peculiarities of his style of composition (large intervallic leaps in the vocal passages ) high reputation.
