Ginjinha

Ginjinha or Ginja is a Portuguese liqueur with 17-20% alcohol, which is made ​​from sour cherries. Only after two months of maceration he has accepted his desired color and characteristic taste. Ginjinha is, served with or without the cherries in brandy glasses. The cherry stones are spewing after eating traditionally on the floor.

The origins of the Ginjinha in Lisbon, more precisely in the Bar "A Ginjinha " at Largo de São Domingos. In this stand-up bar only Ginjinha is served for 150 years, which is very popular with tourists and residents of Lisbon.

Ginjinha portuguesa is one of the liqueurs with a protected designation of origin in the EC.
