Gino Coppedè

Gino Coppedè (* 1866 in Florence, † 1927) was an Italian furniture designer and architect.

In the workshop of his father Coppedè learned the trade of furniture designer and later studied architecture. Ten years of his professional life was spent to transform a villa with side wings, turrets and all kinds of ornaments in a "Disneyland" of the early years of an eccentric Scots named MacKenzie in Genoa.

Between 1915 and 1926 he developed for the Società Anonima Cooperativa Edifizione Moderna, a more than 30,000 -square-meter area in the Roman district of Trieste. The Società gave him a free hand here, and so a neighborhood of a special kind was The resulting architecture here is closely based on the Liberty style, the Italian direction of Art Nouveau, they are called by their Creator Stilo Coppedè.

Between the old city wall and the park of Villa Ada is a gem from an imaginative mix of styles that seeks his peers was near the Piazza Buenos Aires. Eighteen buildings and seven villas were planned, about half was realized until 1926.
