Ginza Rba

The Sidra Rabba ( mandäi. " Big Book " ) or Ginza ( mandäi. "treasure" ) is the holy scripture of Mandaeism. He is also known as Adam Book of the Mandaeans.

The Sidra Rabba was created in the 7th or 8th century as well as the Book of John ( mandäi. " Sidra d- Yahya ", even the Book of Kings ) and the Qolasta ( prayer book), probably to justify as " People of the Book " towards Muslims. The fonts are based in large part on older sources, but also whether they older collections have gone ( so Reitsenstein ) is questionable individual part writings, however, have probably existed before the Islamic conquest.

Ginza is divided into two parts. The rights Ginza ( ginza jamina ) contains mythological, cosmological and moral treatises, including two versions of the " book of the Lord of size ", the " book of the first living teaching," the "mystery and book by the great anos ", two collections of hymns and prayers and a Mandaean world history. The Left Ginza ( ginza smala ) in two books, hymns, and songs about the fate of the departed soul during its journey to the afterlife, initiated by prose pieces that deal with the behavior of Adam, Eve, and sets the death. It is recited at the funeral mass.
