Giorgio Manganelli

Giorgio Manganelli (* November 15, 1922 in Milan, † 28 May 1990 in Rome ) was an Italian writer, essayist, critic, journalist and literary critic.

Life

Manganelli was born in 1922 in Milan. After studying English philology, he worked from 1947 to 1953 as school teacher in Milan, from 1953 to 1971 in Rome. With the novel Hilarotragoedia (German Lower driveway ) brought him a surprise hit in 1964, who established his literary fame, which he always retained a certain outsider relationship to the Italian literary scene.
