Giovanni Arnolfini

Giovanni Arnolfini (* 1400 in Lucca, † September 11, 1472 in Bruges ) was an Italian merchant from Lucca in Tuscany. He retired early with his family to Bruges, where he acted with silk and other goods.

He was probably portrayed twice by Jan van Eyck. Firstly, there is the Arnolfini Wedding, marriage with Giovanna Cenami, on the other, a portrait of later years.
