Giovanni Battista Lamperti

Giovanni Battista Lamperti ( born March 18, 1839 in Milan, † 24 June 1910 in Berlin ) was an Italian singing teacher.

Lamperti was the son of Francesco Lamperti, who was as a singing teacher. At the age of nine, he became a chorister in the choir of the Duomo of Milan. He studied singing and piano at the Conservatorio di Milano and later he worked as a piano accompanist for the singing class of his father. He taught in Milan, then for 20 years in Dresden and then to Berlin. In 1890 recorded one of his students in Dresden, William Earl Brown, on the aphorisms of Lamperti. Among his other singing students Marcella Sembrich, Ernestine Schumann - Heink, Paul Bulss, and Roberto Stagno were found.
