Giovanni Ferrofino

Giovanni Ferrofino ( born February 24, 1912 in Alessandria, Piedmont, Italy, † 21 December 2010) was a Roman Catholic archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See.

Life

Giovanni Ferrofino received on 22 September 1934, the priesthood and entered the diplomatic service of the Vatican.

In February 1942, according to the Ferrofino was founded by Gary Krupp Pave the Way Foundation on behalf of Pope Pius XII. together with the Vatican ambassador to Haiti and the Dominican Republic, Archbishop Maurilio Silvani, involved in negotiations with Rafael Trujillo Molina, the dictator of the Dominican Republic. They negotiated an agreement to issue 400 visas for the absorption of Jewish refugees from Europe. Overall Ferrofino could allow entry into the United States along with Krupp over 10,000 Jews over Cuba, Mexico and Canada.

From 1959 to 1960 he was managing nuncio in Switzerland. In 1960 he was called by Pope John XXIII. appointed Titular Bishop of Zenopolis in Isauria and appointed to succeed Domenico Enrici Apostolic Nuncio to Haiti. The Episcopal ordination on November 26, 1961 donated him Armando Lombardi Hélder Câmara and Albert and François Cousineau. In 1965 he was called by Pope Paul VI. appointed in succession by Alfredo Bruniera nuncio in Ecuador. Giovanni Ferrofino was a Council Father of the fourth session of the Second Vatican Council.

His resignation was accepted in 1987 by John Paul II.
