Giovanni Pietro Maffei

Giovan Pietro Maffei (* 1533, † 1603) was the holder of the chair of eloquence in Genoa and Secretary of the Republic of Genoa.

Maffei took effect on August 26, 1565 in the Jesuit order and was the next six years at the Collegium Romanum Board. In the following years he published, especially in the field of historiography.

  • From Clement VIII commissioned the story about Gregor continue XIII.

It created three books on Sixtus V. They remained unfinished due to his death. ( 1746 in Bergamo printed )
