Gipuzkoa

Gipuzkoa (Spanish Guipúzcoa) is one of the three provinces of the Basque Country Autonomous Region. Capital is Donostia / San Sebastián. In Gipuzkoa live 713 818 inhabitants (2013 ), with 1,980 square kilometers it is the smallest area of ​​all the 50 provinces of Spain.

Geography

Gipuzkoa is located in the northeast of the Basque Country Autonomous Region on the coast of the Gulf of Biscay, which limits the province in the north.

In the West, Gipuzkoa borders the province of Bizkaia, in the south of Álava, in the east of Navarre and in the extreme north-east of France. The border with France is only 10 kilometers long and is formed by the river Bidasoa.
