Girabola

Girabola is the highest league in the Angolan football. The game operation is organized by the Federação Angolana de Futebol (FAF ).

The first championship under the direction of the FAF took place in 1979. She was discharged in four groups of six teams. The group winners then met each other in the knockout system. Between 1980 and 1990, 14 teams were represented in the top league. After 1991, the Association had the number increased to 16, played in 1993 and 1994, only twelve teams for the championship. Since 1995, the League again consists of 14 teams; also since this year the winner of the match receives three points instead of the current two.
