Girl in a Coma are an American girl rock band from San Antonio, Texas. The group consists of the Mexican-American sisters Nina Diaz (vocals and guitar), Phanie Diaz ( drums) and Jenn Alva (bass ). The band's name comes from a song of the same title by British rock band The Smiths.

Band History

2006 met the girls at filming her idol Joan Jett. Thereupon took Jett and her producer Kenny Laguna, the group contract with her ​​label Blackheart Records. In October 2007, Girl in a Coma opened for Morrissey. That same year, the group played at the SXSW Music Festival, as well as 2009 and 2010. In 2008, they won with the song Clumsy Sky the Independent Music Awards for Best Punk Song. In summer 2010, Girl in a Coma had an appearance at the Woodstock Festival in Poland.
