Girls in Hawaii is a Belgian indie pop band.

History

2000 began Antoine Wielemans and Lionel Vancauwenberghe, record songs with an 8 -track recorder and a few months later, she formed the band by recruiting their brothers and two friends: Denis Wielemans, Brice Vancauwenberghe, Christophe Léonard and Daniel Offermann.

In May 2002 she signed with 62TV Records, and shortly afterwards the French music magazine Magic wrote about their first demo: " simplicity, efficiency and accuracy close to perfect, lots of ideas, their music reminds us of Grandaddy, Blonde Redhead and even dEUS ".

November 2002 they won Studio Brussel 's Demopoll, a competition in which the listeners of Studio Brussel choose from hundreds of your favorite bands demo.

Girls in Hawaii 's first release was Found in the Ground: The Winter EP in early 2003, after which the band toured through Belgium and France. In the meantime, they began to take what would be their first LP.

From Here To There was published November 2003 in Belgium and in the spring of 2004 in Europe. The album was well received across Europe, where the band went on a promotional tour: Belgium, France, Italy, Germany and Spain. Later the album was released in Japan, in October 2005 China Shop Music published it in the U.S.. The band began a tour on the west coast of the USA in April 2006.

Her second album, Plan Your Escape was released in February 2008 in Europe. Producer Jean Lamoot who has also worked with artists such as Noir Désir, French and Alain Bashung, it took on in the Ardennes in old houses. The album, more complex and more versatile than the previous one, includes twelve titles, including the first single, This Farm Will End Up in Fire. With the album the band toured through Europe in 2008.

In February 2009, Not Here - released on DVD - a documentary on the life of the band on the tour.

On 30 May 2010 the 28-year -old drummer Denis Wielemans died in a car accident in Brussels.

2012 began the band on their third album, Everest to work. The album was released in September 2013.
