Girolamo Besozzi

Besozzi Girolamo ( Jerome Besozzi, * 1745 or 1750 in Naples, † 1788 in Paris ) was an Italian oboist, bassoonist and composer.

The son of composer Gaetano Besozzi 1765 had a job in the court orchestra of the King of Naples. Around 1770 he traveled to Paris, where he performed his own works at the spiritual concert. He became known as a composer of chamber music. His Sonata for Bassoon and Piano in B flat major is fixed to the present part of the literature for the instrument. His son Henri Besozzi was flutist at the Paris Opera, and his grandson was the composer Louis Désiré Besozzi.
