Gisu people
Called The Gisu, proper name Bagisu ( German people of Bugisu ), also Gishu, Masaba, or Sokwia, are a people of Masaba nation in Eastern Uganda, culturally closely related to the Bukusu in Kenya.
Bagisu live mainly in Mbale district on the slopes of Mount Elgon.
The Gisu speak a dialect of the Bantu language Masaaba which Lugisu is called and is understood by speakers of other dialects Masaaba problems.
Culture
The Gisu celebrate a Imbalu called circumcision ritual. The ritual is held in August every other year.
