Giubiasco

Giubiasco ( German outdated: Siebenäsch ) is a municipality in the district Giubiasco, in the district of Bellinzona in the canton of Ticino. Giubiasco part of the agglomeration of Bellinzona.

Geography

The Piazza Grande ( Big Square) Giubiascos situated at an altitude of 237 m above sea level. Level, the highest point is 590 m above sea Sasso Terriccio. M., the deepest is Mondetta with 208 m above sea. M..

Giubiasco located in the Magadinoebene between Sant'Antonino and Bellinzona. It is situated on the main road and the A2 motorway between Bellinzona and Lugano. Passing through the municipality, the Gotthard railway line Bellinzona -Lugano, the train station in Giubiasco is also the starting point of the railway to Locarno from which branches off the route to Luino.

The municipality comprises the hamlets Lôro, Motti and Sasso Piatto in the plane and Palasio and Pedevilla on a slope.

History

1186 the village as Cibiascum, 1195 Zibiassco as was mentioned.
