Giuseppe Garibaldi Trophy

The Giuseppe Garibaldi Trophy (French Trophée Giuseppe Garibaldi, Italian Trofeo Giuseppe Garibaldi ) is a designed by Jean -Pierre Rives trophy in the sport of Rugby Union that the winner of the match between France and as part of the Six Nations tournament Italy is presented. It is named on the occasion of his 200th birthday in 2007, after the Italian revolutionary Giuseppe Garibaldi.

The trophy was created by the sculptor Jean -Pierre Rives, who had been from 1975 to 1984 French national team. The presentation of the trophy was made on 2 February 2007 at the Palazzo Farnese, the French Embassy in Rome. The following day France won the trophy for the first time, with a 39:3 victory over Italy. 12 March 2011 then Italy could win the trophy for the first time. France won the trophy 6 times so far, while Italy was able to record two victories.
