Give Peace a Chance
Give Peace a Chance is a yet arisen at the time of the existence of The Beatles and, therefore, for legal reasons, the composer duo Lennon / McCartney song attributed. It was recorded, however, by John Lennon, Yoko Ono and some other parties ( including " LSD guru" Timothy Leary ) during the "bed -ins " in the " Queen Elizabeth Hotel " in Montreal on June 1, 1969.
Formation
After their wedding on March 20, 1969 in Gibraltar, John Lennon and Yoko Ono began their several months of great international press vortex triggering actions for peace. Even during their honeymoon in Amsterdam they invited selected members of the press into their hotel room, where they laid their motivations for a " Campaign for Peace" darlegten in bed. The action was quickly referred to as " bed-in ".
During the next few months, Lennon and Ono continued their bed- ins were holding a " Bag-In " in Vienna, in which they presented themselves to the audience sitting in a white bag and took various experimental compositions on.

Recording

While Lennon with his guitar next to Ono sat on the bed and sang, members of the Canadian Radha Krishna Temple danced across the room.
Publication
Having already published in May Beatles single ( but were only John Lennon and Paul McCartney participated in the recording) The Ballad of John and Yoko documented their wedding and then the following actions for peace, appeared chance in July Give Peace a first solo single a Beatles ever - released under the name " John Lennon & Yoko Ono with The Plastic Ono Band " - the latter was by this time a pure fantasy construct. This and the increased occurrence of Lennon without the other three Beatles fueled the ongoing separation rumors for some time in addition - in fact, should the Beatles made only a few months. The single, which on the B - side of the Ono- composition Remember Love contained, took second place in the charts in the UK. In the U.S., it only reached to Rank 14 The song is until today a popular anthem for peace protests.

Published in 2010, the composer and arranger Colin Towns a new scoring of Give Peace A Chance along with the NDR Big Band. He backed the inclusion of quotations today's politicians like Gerhard Schröder, Angela Merkel, Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin on the Iraq war issue.
