Giza Necropolis
The necropolis of Giza is next to Sakkara and Thebes the most important burial site of Ancient Egypt. First burials found here already taken 1 to 3 Dynasty. For great importance it reached during the 4th Dynasty, when the Pharoahs Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure Giza selected as the location for their pyramids. In addition to the Pharaohs also their family members as well as officials and priests were buried. By the end of the Old Kingdom in the 6th Dynasty, originated several hundred graves. Then Giza lost its importance, but found during the late period in the course of a general return to the Egyptian past once more use as a burial ground.
