GJ 3379
FY 3379 or Giclas 99-49 (abbreviated G 99-49 ) is about 17.5 light years away from the Sun to the nearest known star in the constellation Orion. The main-sequence star is a red dwarf with spectral type M3.5 V. It has an apparent magnitude of 11.33 and an absolute magnitude of 12.68 mag. The star is thus not visible to the naked eye. It is located in the upper left of Orion slightly below Betelgeuse. Its radial velocity is 30.0 km per second. The star is classified as UV Ceti star.
