The University of Gjøvik (Norwegian: Høgskolen i Gjøvik ) - HiG short - is a public university in the Norwegian town of Gjøvik with 2,700 students and 290 academic staff ( 2011). The university was founded in 1994 Gjøvik and is divided into five institutes: Today the College Gjøvik consists of three faculties:

  • Faculty of computer science and media technology ( Avdeling for Informatikk above medieteknikk )
  • Faculty of technology, business and management ( Avdeling for teknologi, økonomi above Ledelse )
  • Faculty of Health and Nursing ( Avdeling for helse, Omsorg above sykepleie )

In addition to training undergraduate Master's degrees are offered in the following areas: Information Security ( international program ), Media Technology, Healthy working.

In information security Gjøvik has the largest working group within Norway. Research focuses on authentication, biometrics, network security, secure software development. In education there is a B.Sc. in Information Security ( bachelor i informasjonssikkerhet ), a M.Sc. in Information Security and a Ph.D. program in Information Security. Rector of the University is Prof. Jørn Wroldsen.
