Gleinstatten is a market town in the district court or the district of Leibnitz, Styria, Austria, and has 1457 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). As part of the Styrian community structure reform, it should be up to 2015 merged with the neighboring community Pistorf.

Geography

Gleinstatten located in Sulmtal northeast of the confluence of the Black and the White Sulm at Prarath.

The market town Gleinstatten consists of three local villages and towns Gleinstatten ( with the hamlet of Forst), Haslach and Prarath.

The name Gleinstatten means a location in a muddy area, which is confirmed by the existing in place brick making (similar Gleinz ). Haslach is derived from hazelnut plants that are at a larger stream, a Ache. Prarath 1136 as Preurat 1310 is as Prewrewt, however, it will not be seen as an indication of a clearing, but of Slovenian prevrat " reversal, turn " derived, which can be explained by the course of the rivers in this area ( confluence of the White and Black sulm and the body of the stream to Sulm ).

History

Gleinstatten was originally named Michel village. 1245 here the attachment of Konrad Michel villages is mentioned in a document. From 1285 to 1607 was the Salzburg service man narrowness of Bad Gleinzer gentlemen of the town. Culture and sights

Castle Gleinstatten

The castle was built in the 16th - built in 17th century. The present appearance is a three storey four-wing building with an arcaded courtyard, in 1666 restored in the Renaissance style after a fire by Franz Isidor Carlone. A column on the ground floor is dated 1556. 1975-1978 was a fundamental renovation, restoration and Adapierung for the elementary school and the local authority. The arcaded courtyard was roofed. Parish Church

The church was first mentioned in 1381. It is dedicated to St. Michael. In 1692 it was rebuilt. The tower was built from 1754 to 1757. The Baroque high altar dates from the chapel of the castle. A Romanesque relief with two fighting lions with Flechtbandornamentenaus is the 13th century, probably the only residue of the first church on the north wall.

Branch Church of St. Georgen

The Branch Church of St. Georgen am Lukowisch is located on a hilltop south Gleinstatten. It is mentioned in a document in 1383 and built in Gothic style.

Tondachwerk and stadium

The plant of clay roof Gleinstatten AG and built with their help " Tondachstadion " testify to the economic importance of brick production in the territory. The Tondachstadion summarizes some 2,000 people.

Sport and Culture

Football club

Gleinstatten is also home to a gambling in the Styrian League soccer club, SV Union clay roof Gleinstatten. Founded in 1947, it counts next to the SVL Flavia Solva and the SV Saints at Wildon of the most successful clubs in the region. The home games are played in Tondachstadion. In the 2009/10 season, the club was able, thanks to a spring passage, were in the earned 38 of 45 possible points, reach the championship in the division with 58 points. When Konzertwertung Games 2007 in Leibnitz was an accomplished " Excellent success." In May 2008, the chapel was fitted with a new uniform, which was inaugurated in market festival on May 18.

When marching music score in Wolfsberg 2008 Market Music Gleinstatten reached with staff leader John Knieley also excellent success in stage C.
