Glendaruel

Glendaruel (Gaelic: Gleann Da Ruadhail ) is a valley in the Scottish unitary authority Argyll and Bute. It runs in a north-south direction across the sparsely populated peninsula Cowal. Within the valley there are several listed buildings. So is sorted into the highest monument Scottish Category A House of Ormidale the sundial. Likewise, dating from the 1815 Dunans Bridge over the Ruel, the main access to Dunans Castle.

Geography

Starting in the north runs Glendaruel initially for two km in a southeasterly direction, but then turns from the southwest and follows this direction ten kilometers. The last five kilometers run again in a southeasterly direction. Glendaruel ends at the head of Loch Riddon, a tributary of the Kyles of Bute. Over a length of 15 kilometers, the eponymous Ruel flows through the valley. With the A886, the most important road of the peninsula runs along the entire length of the valley. Within the valley there are no large towns. The largest of these is the small scattered settlement Clachan of Glendaruel.
