Glenugie distillery

Glenugie was a whiskey distillery in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The distillery buildings obtained are partially sorted in the Scottish lists of monuments in the B category.

History

The distillery was founded in 1831 in Invernettie, which was still at that time outside of Peterhead. After six years of operation, the distillery has been transformed into a brewery, but the production was changed 25 years later again on whiskey. 1925, the operation was temporarily closed. Seager Evans bought the distillery in 1937 and began again with the whiskey production. The operation went over the decades, first in the possession of Schenley Long John and finally by Whitbread & Co.. The latter stopped production in 1983 and the site was sold in the same year at an oil company that converted the building partially demolished or office building. For a time, Glenugie Scotland's most easterly distillery.

Production

The water required for the production comes from the Wellington - source. To burn were two coarse blisters ( wash stills ) and fine blisters ( spirit stills ) are available.

Samples

The distillery filled until closing from no own single malts. However, there are some bottlings independent bottler.
