The Gletscherhorn with 3'983 m above sea level. M., the tenth highest mountain in the Bernese Alps. Over its peak is the boundary between the Swiss cantons of Bern and Valais.

The Gletscherhorn is rarely climbed. For one, it is surrounded by many well-known peaks, partly through the magical boundary of 4,000 meters, on the other hand are all the peaks increases quite demanding tours.

The Gletscherhorn lies south of the more widely known virgin, to the southwest it is connected via the Gletscherjoch with the Äbeni Flue. To the north it falls with a powerful combined 1200 meters high wall, later on steep slopes 2,800 meters from the Lauterbrunnen valley. The actual summit area consists of rock. In the southern flank of Gletscherhornfirn and Kranzbergfirn, which are separated from each other by the rocky south-east lie. Below the Südostgrates unite the glaciers and flow together in the Great Aletschfirn. Further south, perched above the Great Aletschfirn Aletschhorn with its powerful northern wall.

The normal way of south-east and the west ridge apply. Both routes are about the same length and have the same difficulties, difficult following the SAC - mountain and high- scale tour.
