Gliese 163

Gliese 163 is a red dwarf of spectral type M3.5, which (15 pc) away from the Sun in the constellation located around 49 light years swordfish and is surrounded by at least two planetary companions. The object has an apparent magnitude of 11.8 mag and an absolute magnitude of 11 mag.

Planetary companion

In September 2012, the discovery of at least two exoplanets around Gliese 163 using the HARPS instrument was announced. The outer planet, Gliese 163 c (short Gl 163 c ), has an orbital period of just under 26 days and is located on the inner edge of the habitable zone. Its minimum mass of 6.9 Earth masses. The inner planet, Gliese 163 b, has an orbital period of 9 days. There were also found evidence for a third planet, which would be located on another orbit as b and c.
