Glimke

Bridge over the Glimkebach

Geography

The catchment area extends north-east of Bad Salzuflen and north of Bega over part of the Lipper Bergland.

The water originates northeast of deserts in the district pill break, accumulates below the Boberg, then flows past the Kixmühle, Seven Oaks, below Pehlens at the court Schwabedissen to the hamlet Glimke. From here the Glimke forms the city and county boundary ( Bad Salzuflen, Herford / Lippe - Herford ) and ends in the Vlothoer district Exter, height Hagenmühle, in the salts.

On their way the Glimke takes downriver considered the following waters on:

  • Glimke ( inflow of the same name ) (R 5.4 )
  • Wüstener Bieke (L, 2,2) The Wüstener Bieke arises between Boberg, earth and Wiensiek. It flows initially parallel to the church Heider road towards Kätchenort / Old Village, underground at the former landfill along and parallel to the Glimkestraße to its confluence with the Glimke.

(L / R; KM ): Left right inflow at river kilometer, Estuary at KM 0)

History

The origin of the name is uncertain, and perhaps goes back to the Glimberg ( nd Glimmerg ). This in turn could have its origin in Glintberg ( nd rock, cliff, rock ). About the Glimkebach led by a ( still existing ) bridge a Kirchweg to Wüstener church. The bridge was used as a flood weir to the meadows, adopted will continue the times therefore possible operation of a witnessed, but no longer existing Hofmühle.

Environment
