Glossematics

Glossematics ( " combination of Glosseme " ) is the name for a theory of language, which was founded by Louis Hjelmslev and Hans Jørgen Uldall in the Copenhagen School.

Description

The glossematics counts as a continuation and differentiation of the basic principles set out by Ferdinand de Saussure to structuralist analysis of language. It considers the relationship between achieved by abstracting elements of the expression and the content ( Glosseme ), and they created tests on the speech sounds ( phonology ) as on the relationship between linguistic signs and reality (semantics).
