Glynn Turman

Glynn Turman Russell ( born January 31, 1947 in New York City, New York ) is an American actor of African-American origin. Its reputation is largely the result of its presence in American television productions.

Life

Turmans career began at age 13 when he landed a role in a Broadway youth theater piece. From then on, Turman played in the following years exclusively in stage plays, for example, in New York or Los Angeles. In addition, he started after leaving school trained at the Academy of Performing Arts in New York.

Turmans film career began in the 1970s with the so-called blaxploitation wave, where he worked in the corresponding productions such as Attica - starred revolt behind bars. Since then he has acted primarily in supporting roles in productions of the U.S. television, but also some movies such as Gremlins - Little Monsters, Men of Honor, or the Sahara - adventures in the desert. In 1977, he was provided in the pre-production of Star Wars as Han Solo, before George Lucas changed the plans and occupied the part with Harrison Ford.

His most famous role to date had Turman as Colonel Bradford "Brad" Taylor on the sitcom A Different World, a spin -off of the Cosby Show.

Private

Glynn Turman is the father of four children. He has now married for the third time and was in a second marriage in a relationship with soul diva Aretha Franklin.
