Gmina Mirosławiec

The Gmina Mirosławiec (municipality Mirosławiec ) is a city and rural community in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Headquartered in the eponymous village Mirosławiec ( Mirosławiec ). The municipality covers an area of 203.27 km ² and thus claimed 14.4 % of the total Walęcki powiat ( county German crown). Nearly 6,000 people live in the municipality.

Geography

The municipality is located in the northwest of the powiat Walęcki, which is itself in the northeast of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. Neighboring municipalities are:

  • Gmina Tuczno ( Tütz ) and Gmina Wałcz ( German crown) in powiat Walęcki, and
  • Kalisz Pomorski ( Kallies ) and Wierzchowo ( Virchow ) in the powiat Drawski ( Pomerania ).

Traffic

The Gmina Mirosławiec lies on the major Polish national road 10 (Szczecin - Płońsk ( Plöhnen ) ), on the route of the former German Empire Road 104 (Lübeck - Pila ), and is only 26 kilometers from the road junction Wałcz ( German crown) away. The province road 177 connects the town also with Czaplinek ( Tempelburg ) in the north and Człopa ( Schloppe ) siwue Wieleń ( Filehne, already in the Greater Poland Voivodeship location ) in the south.

Rails

Since 1900, the present municipal area was connected to the railway network on the route Kallies ( Kalisz Pomorski ) - Virchow ( Wierzchowo ) - Falkenburg ( Złocieniec ). This railway line was closed in 1996 for passenger traffic, so that a rail link is only for freight.

Traffic

Mirosławiec has an airbase and is the seat of the 12th air base of the Polish Air Force. In January 2008 there was a catastrophic crash of a military plane CASA C -295 near the airbase.
