Gmina Zabłudów

Zabłudów is a town in Poland, in the Podlaskie Voivodeship. It is the seat of city and rural community in the powiat Białostocki.

From 1807 to 1918 Zabłudów belonged to Russia, then to the state of Poland. From 1939 to 1941, the town was occupied by Soviet troops, then by German ( 1941-1944 ).

In the town there was a large Jewish community before the Holocaust. At the end of the nineteenth century about 60 percent of the inhabitants were Jews. In the city there was a wooden synagogue that was built in 1637. In 1941, she was burned by German troops.
