Gobron-Brillié

The Société Gobron - Brillié was a French manufacturer of automobiles.

Company History

Gustave Gobron and Eugène Brillié founded the company in 1898 in Paris for the production of automobiles. In 1900 the company moved to Boulogne -Billancourt. 1903 Eugène Brillié different from the company to produce cars in Le Havre under the name Brillié. The company name was initially retained. However, the brand name changed officially in 1903 on Gobron, even if that was ignored for a long time in public.

Rolling stock

The first models had a particular type of explosion engine as opposed piston engine: in each cylinder worked two opposing pistons on two crankshafts at opposite ends of the motor. From 1900 Nagant built the model under license.

First, the engines were mounted in the vehicle center or in the rear. 1901 models came with front engine to, but the more powerful models reported further on a mid-engine. 1903 reported all models on the front engine. A model with four-cylinder engine and 40 hp power appeared.

A car of this brand is on display at the Musée National de la Voiture du Tourisme in Compiègne.

Production figures

After moving to Paris in 1900, the production number doubled to 150 vehicles per year.
