Goemon (series)

Ganbare Goemon (Japaneseがんばれゴエモン, outside of Japan Mystical Ninja ) is a video game franchise from Konami. The games are about the adventures of the main character Goemon and his companions. The start of the series marked the arcade machine Mr. Goemon (1986, Japan only).

The protagonist loosely based on Goemon Ishikawa Goemon, the noble thief of Japanese folklore. While the previous games Goemon still represent a noble thief, he became increasingly becoming the standard video game hero throughout the series. Typical of Goemon is his blue bushy hair and a Kiseru used as a weapon. The universe of games is located in a cartoon stick, mystical, feudal Japan, where again allusions to folklore and legends of Japan are made. Although the series has its roots in the genre of action-adventure, there are now a wide range of Ganbare Goemon - games such as role playing, puzzle games or board games. Ganbare Goemon is extremely popular in Japan, there is a wide range of merchandise, as well as various anime and manga.
