Goffredo Alessandrini

Goffredo Alessandrini ( born November 9, 1904 in Cairo, † May 16, 1978 in Rome ) was an Italian film director.

Life

Alessandrini was born as the son of a working in Egypt Italian actor, studied in London and initially worked in film as an assistant to Alessandro Blasetti before he was responsible for some documentaries themselves.

For some time he worked in Hollywood on Italian versions of American film, and went back to Italy in 1931 when he got the chance of a first feature film. His films were equally successful with audiences and critics. So won his film Luciano Serra pilota and Abuna Messias 1938 and 1939, the Film Festival in Venice - best Italian respectively. as the best movie ever.

During the Second World War Alessandrini worked indefatigably, without political statement, so that he rarely got after the war an opportunity to work as a director. From 1953 to 1956 he was involved as a " supervisor " from the directors to a handful of films; 1964-1967 he appeared in several films as an actor. Two films he could realize in South America. Alessandrini died forgotten in 1978.
