GO! GO! 7188 was a Japanese band. Their music is a mix of surf, pop, rock, and Enka.

Biography

The band was founded in 1998 by Yumi " Yuu " Nakashima and Akiko " Akko " Hamada. Both played already at the Shoyo High School in Kagoshima, Kyûshû together in a Judy and Mary cover band called Jellyfish. 1999 Turkey joined drummer to them, with on the label breast / milia in 2000 ( a division of Capitol Records / Toshiba EMI) debut with the album and the single Dasoku Hokou Taiyô celebrated. With the published in June 2007 Single Manatsu no Dance Hall GO! GO! 7188 Toshiba - EMI turned their backs and switched to BMG Japan. The band was on 10 February 2012 on its website announced their separation.

Origin of the name

The meaning of the band name is a mystery. However, there is a popular theory among Japanese fans: Are you in a Japanese cell phone or a pager the number 55 71 88 ( 5 = go), there shall be the wordのま ♥ ( ♥ NO MA ). Noma is a man who has worked in the LIVE HOUSE / SR HALL in Kagoshima, where GO GO! 7188 used to play! . On October 1, 2006 married bassist Akiko Hamada and took the last name Noma.

Members

  • Yumi Nakashima (中 岛 优 実, dt.Nakashima Yumi, born December 1, 1979) as Yuu (ユウ), is responsible for vocals, guitar and songwriting. It is the silent head of the band and is responsible for the composition of the songs. In live performances she is very focused and engrossed in their game and rarely communicates with the fans. This is the role of bassist Akiko.
  • Akiko Noma (ノマアキコ, dt Noma Akiko, born February 13, 1980) also Akko (アッコ) called, takes over the backing vocals, bass and writes the lyrics. Before her marriage in 2006 she was named Akiko Hamada (浜 田 亜 纪 子, Hamada Akiko dt ).
  • Takayuki Hosokawa (细 川 贵 之, dt Takuya Hosokawa, born 10 July 1973) is Turkey (ターキー) called and sits on drums. Before the time with GO! GO! he played in another indie girl band.

In March 2007, GO! GO! 7188 to see them live for the first time outside Japan. As part of the Japan Nite Tour 2007 They appeared in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Only a few months later, in August it moved the band again for two appointments in the United States. This time they were on the Musikfest in Bethlehem and in Chicago.
