Göran Högosta

Göran Högosta ( born April 15, 1954 in Äppelbo ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey goaltender, whose greatest achievement was the silver medal at the Ice Hockey World Championship in 1977 with the Swedish national ice hockey team. Not least because of his achievements in two victories of the Swedes against the selection of the Soviet Union in Vienna, he was also awarded as the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

Career

Högosta started his professional career in 1971 at the club IF Tunabro in Borlänge. From 1974 to 1976 he played in Leksand IF and has established itself as one of the best goalkeepers in the league, earning him a nomination for the national team. 1977 joined Göran Högosta to the Fort Worth Texans, one year later to the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League. Further stations were the New York Islanders, another year at the club Fort Worth Texans and finally the Quebec Nordiques, before he returned to the beginning of the season 1980/1981 in the Swedish league. He played four years at Västra Frölunda HC. After one season at Falu IF he finished after the season 1986/1987 his career at Leksand IF, with whom he already Swedish Champion turned twelve years earlier.

Goran Högosta now works as a sales manager at the paint manufacturer Herdins in Falun.

Internationally

In addition to the Ice Hockey World Championship 1977 Högosta participated in the World Championships 1975 ( bronze ), 1976 (Bronze) and 1978 ( 4th place) as first-choice goalkeeper in part.
